CONGREGATIONAL CARE

Congregational care ministry

Love as we have been loved

We believe that the love we experience from God in Christ flows through us to one another. The hope and pursuit of our care ministry is that people experience the love of Christ through caring relationship with one another, share in the pain and joy of life together, and find meaningful support and grow in capacity to care for others. Please click on the images below to learn more about the programs we offer.

Request PrayerI Want to help I Need Help

Our prayer team meets Tuesday mornings at 8:45 AM with Pastor Susan via Zoom. This is a chance for our community to pray over various prayer requests that come in each week.

Death is painful but you are not alone. This is a support group for anyone who has lost a loved one. Our next session is January 22-February 26, 2024 in the Courtyard Room. Contact Erica Smith at ericas@lakegrovepres.org or 503-636-5656 to register or for more information.

The Meal Train Ministry is a way for our community to show love and support to people by providing meals at times when a home-cooked meal can feed our body and soul – during life’s challenges and struggles. A Meal Train could be dinner for sleepless parents as they experience the joy and excitement of a newborn child. A Meal Train could provide comfort to someone experiencing loss of a loved one or be an extra helping hand to someone recovery from illness or surgery. If you would like to volunteer or have questions about the Meal Train ministry, please contact click below.

Care Ministries

Throughout the year we offer a wide variety of resources and care to meet in your current circumstances.  Expand the items below for more details.

Friendship Visitation

We have LGPC members who are home-bound and no longer able to make it to church. You can be a connecting link of friendship and God’s love by making regular visits once or twice a month. Make a difference in someone’s life and enrich your own as a member of the Friendship Visitation Ministry. We meet once a month to share updates, encouragement, and ideas for ministry.

Off Site Communion

We have many home-bound church members who enjoy receiving offsite communion. If you have ever been ordained as an elder or deacon and are willing to visit home-bound church members on the first Sunday of the month, you can be a blessing in the life of a Lake Grove member/friend who is unable to attend worship.

Memorial Service Team

The Memorial Service team cares for bereaved families, their friends, and loved ones by preparing for and conducting memorial service receptions.

Transportation

Many in our church family are no longer able to drive. Currently, members of this team drive Lake Grove members/friends to appointments or to run errands. No special license or experience is required.

Helping Hands

The mission of Helping Hands is to collect donated household items from our parishioners’ residences and deliver them to a storage warehouse in Canby. From this warehouse these items are directly donated to the clients of Love, Inc.

Medical Supply Closet

This ministry lends medical equipment to members of Lake Grove and the community. Donations may be accepted based on need and condition.

Pastoral Support

Pastor Susan Graham and other members of the pastoral team regularly provide pastoral care in the form of prayer, encouragement, and spiritual direction for congregants in the office and in homes, hospitals and care facilities upon request. Emergency/crisis pastoral care may be accessed by calling the church during normal office hours, 503-636-5656, or leaving a message on the pastors’ voicemail at 503-210-6062.
