Gearing up for Lebanon

Posted by Mark McIlraith on

Hello Friends!

We are heading off to Lebanon at the invitation of World Vision to explore how World vision and our church can respond to the Syrian refugee crisis.  This is a “vision team” trip to ask questions, meet people on the ground in refugee camps, meet others there responding to the needs, and form relationships.  Pastor Graig will be leaving on October 26 to meet with a few mission partners already established with us ahead of time in other parts of the area, and then Alan Shiffer and I will depart Monday, October 29 to join Pastor Graig in Lebanon where we will be exploring ways to partner with the Syrian refugees.  We will be going with Steve Haas from World Vision along with two other interested individuals not part of our church.  I am excited to explore possible ways to break out into this new mission area, paving the way forward for others to respond in kind.  Be sure to keep this blog alive on your computers as we will be posting updates and pictures here during our time away.  I also ask that you be in prayer for us as we go and be in prayer for the dear people we will be encountering.  Also, please pray that God would grant us wisdom to know how best to respond in Christ to this terrible crisis.

We believe God is doing something significant through Lake Grove Church and through this particular mission effort.  Thank you for joining us by blessing and sending this vision team to Lebanon.

Wonderful thing to explore. I will be praying for safe travels, health, open communication.
