Present Over Perfect Women's Book Study
Wednesday, January 17 - Wednesday, March 21
Join us for a women’s book study this winter. We will offer an onsite group at the church on Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:30 am. The study will include a video element (every other week) and an opportunity to share our stories with one another. Some groups may choose to meet in homes. Please contact Kelly if you are interested in hosting a group in your home.
Present Over Perfect is bestselling author Shauna Niequist’s motto for how to live a rich, engaged, and loving life in the midst of what often feels terribly messy and imperfect. Similar in format to Shauna’s previous books, Present Over Perfect is a collection of essays that focuses on the journey from frantic and tired to connected and free. Many of us find ourselves busier than we want to be, missing the sweetest moments along the way. We end up resentful and distracted, full of regret and feeling disconnected. Present Over Perfect is a hand reaching out to a new way of living—full of grace, space, and connection.

Child Sponsorship Sunday
Big dreams are made of many pieces… come discover how you can be the corner piece in child sponsorship. Please join us in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, February 25, at 12:15 PM, as we celebrate Lake Grove’s compassionate outreach for child sponsorship. Some current sponsors are approaching the completion of their commitments in Senegal and Zambia as we near our “sunset” years, however going forward, learn how we can continue to strengthen our ministry together by increasing our sponsorships of needy children in our new partnership country, Bangladesh.
Cherry Marcelo, our featured speaker, has been part of World Vision since she was six years old - starting as a WV sponsored child in an urban poor community in the Philippines. She has over 16 years of experience in development work focused on promoting the holistic development of children and the integration of faith perspectives in development work through World Vision. Currently, she oversees World Vision’s “Faith in Development” programs in Asia, South Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. You won’t want to miss her story of sponsorship that has come full circle. To see her full bio please click here.
This event is geared for the entire family, we will have a light lunch and hands-on activities for children that can be sent to current or newly sponsored children.
Whether you are a long-time sponsor or new to the idea, we hope to have you join us. Your reservation is kindly requested, please email Sheri, or signup in the Gathering Area. Childcare available for children age 3 and under by emailing email@example.com by Feb. 22.
Want to sponsor a child in Bangladesh? We will have a sponsorship table available between services and during the sponsorship event. If you have questions about sponsorship, staff will be available to help you.
Men's Ministry Kick-off Dinner
March 7, 7 PM
Isn’t there more to offer men at Lake Grove than an Advent Breakfast once a year, or a game of golf each spring?
A group of Lake Grove leaders met in December to wrestle with that question, and are ready to develop new expanded programs for the men of Lake Grove Pres. Please join us, we welcome your new ideas!
We desire to have 3-in-1 programs that have these elements:
A.) an INWARD focus on fellowship and BIG FUN all at the same time.
B.) creating new pathways for REACHING OUT and being welcoming.
C.) BEING PRESENT year-round.
These are for fathers and sons, uncles and nephews, brother and brothers, the neighbor kid, or just a bunch of guys. They are designed to be friendly to your calendar and bandwidth—come when you can, come as you are—drop in / drop out.
We aim to have something for all ages, where your ministry is just being there. Come and check out our ideas and add yours.
Wednesday, March 7, 7 PM, in the Fellowship Hall (Dinner Provided).
Your reservation is requested so we have enough food for all. Sign-up in the Gathering Area or sign-up online here.
